Junior National Badminton Championship: Harsheel Dani and Aditya Joshi secure a quarter-final spot
India’s Harsheel Dani and Aditya Joshi have stretched their impressive performance as they have secured a quarter-final berth in Boy’s Doubles U17 category after beating Kabir Kanzarkar and Amey Pawar in the round-of-16 at the 36th Junior National
Badminton Championship 2012, on Friday, February 10, in India.
Harsheel and Aditya, who are the top seeds in Boy’s Doubles draw, played to their maximum potential and faced no problem in ending the match in straight games by taking just 20 minutes.
Kabir and Amey played remarkable game in the first set but remained unlucky in the end and lost it with a tight score. In the second game, they failed to play positive game and could not even match the speed of their higher ranked rivals and lost the set
with a big difference.
In the opening game, Harsheel and Aditya played well in the opening points but failed to build lead as their rivals were also matching the pace of rallies. Both pairs played attacking game and the cracking sounds of powerful shots could be heard in the whole
gymnasium.
Both sides kept the pace at highest level and remained close until the break, where no one could manage a comfortable lead on the score board.
After the one-minute break, Harsheel and Aditya tried their best to overpower their opponents by taking the bird early but failed to manage lead as Kabir and Amey also played positive badminton.
The score was 20-20 when Harsheel and Aditya played fast game at net and also executed powerful smashes which helped them to earn the ending points and they took the set with a 22-20 score on the board.
In the second set, Harsheel and Aditya controlled the pace of rallies from the opening points and they remained ahead of their rivals. They did not face any resistance from their un-seeded challengers in the opening half.
After the break, Harsheel and Aditya continued their attacking play and did not spare any chance for their opponents to fight back in the game. They ended the second set in a convincing fashion with a striking 21-13 score on the board.
The overall score of this Boy’s Doubles U17 battle was 22-20 and 21-13.
