Junior National Badminton Championship: Tanvi Lad claims Girl’s Singles U19 title – Badminton news
India’s upcoming female shuttler, Tanvi Lad stole the limelight as she claimed Girl’s Singles U19 title after beating her higher ranked rival, Saili Rane in the final clash of 36th Junior National Badminton Championship in Jaipur, India, on Sunday, February 12.
The passionate Tanvi, who was the second seed in Girl’s Singles draw of the event, played to her maximum potential and thrashed the top seeded Saili in an emphatic fashion. Tanvi played incredible badminton as she did not spare any chance for Saili to win even a single game in the title match and finished it in straight games.
The second seeded Tanvi took 47 minutes in the court to prove her supremacy over her higher ranked opponent and became the junior national champion.
In the first set, Tanvi did not face any trouble from her rival at the starting points and took a reasonable lead. She played with precision and did not let Saili to control the bird in the opening half.
Saili started her campaign against the lower ranked Tanvi in a sluggish way as she failed to respond quickly to the well executed strokes of her rival.
Tanvi played well and reached at 9-5 when Saili started to elevate her game and managed to level the score at 9-9. Until the break, Tanvi was just ahead of her higher ranked challenger by reaching at 11-10 on the board.
However, Tanvi played aggressive game in the second half and took a comfortable lead. She did not drop the speed of rallies and remained successful in taking the first game with a decent margin of 21-17.
In the following game, Tanvi showed her impressive speed and took the bird early from all areas. She executed powerful strokes against the confused Saili and established a terrific lead of 11-6 until the break.
After the interval, Tanvi continued her winning run and did not let her higher ranked rival to dominate the pace. She remained positive and composed and ended the second game with a comfortable difference of 21-16.
This Girl’s Singles U19 final ended in two games with a 21-17 and 21-16 score on the board.
