Junior National Badminton Championship: Vighnesh Devlekar – Kaushal Dharmamer reach into top-8 stage
India’s Vighnesh Devlekar and Kaushal Dharmamer enter into Boys Doubles U17 top-8 stage after beating Ankit Chhikara and Yash Nain in the round-of-16 at the 36th Junior National Badminton Championship, in India, on Friday, February 10.
Vighnesh and Kaushal, who started their campaign in this tournament from the qualifying round, played to their maximum speed and stunned Ankit and Yash in scintillating fashion.
It was a thrilling fight that took three games of fast and aggressive badminton from both pairs. However, Vighnesh and Kaushal managed to dominate the pace in the deciding set and won the match with a superb margin.
In the opening set, Ankit and Yash played with precision and managed a reasonable lead. They did not execute negative strokes against their spirited rivals and remained slightly ahead on the score board until the interval.
After the break, Vighnesh and Kaushal tried to accelerate their speed at net but failed to take any benefit as their opponents were in complete control of rallies. The qualifiers lost the opening game with a decent score of 18-21.
In the second game, both sides put up tremendous show of fast badminton as they played with incredible speed. They did not miss any chance to end the rallies and remained close in the first half.
After the break, Ankit and Yash tried to played fast game by taking the bird early but failed to destroy the defence of their opponents, who were putting up strong resistance.
At the concluding phase of second game, Vighnesh and Kaushal managed to play positive badminton and won the set with a tight difference of 22-20.
In the deciding game, Vighnesh and Kaushal entered into the court with a different strategy. They played to their maximum speed from the opening points and established a wonderful lead in the first half.
After the break, Vighnesh and Kaushal continued their elevated play and did not face any resistance from their higher ranked challengers. They did not lose their focus in the whole set and won the battle with a terrific score of 21-9.
This Boy’s Doubles U17 fight ended in 41 minutes with a margin of 18-21, 22-20 and 21-9.
