Junior and Lie Forrit gain market attention for the Coral Scottish Grand National Handicap Chase
Quentin Collonges, trained by Henry Daly for owners, Neville Statham and family, has been scratched from the Grade 3 Coral Scottish Grand National Handicap Chase, which is scheduled to take place at Ayr on 21st April,
2012.
The eight-year-old gelding was gaining bets as Paddy Power gave him the odds of 12 to 1, but Daly stated to the press that:
"We're not going up there for the fresh air," he further elaborated that "This has been the plan for some time and he will definitely appreciate going left-handed."
The son of Dom Alco, out of mare, Grace Collonges, triumphed in the 32Red Casino Beginners' Chase at Doncaster on 22nd February, 2012, where he triumphed over, The Cockney Mackem, by a wide margin of 5 lengths.
This victory greatly delighted the punters, as he was a long shot with slim chances of winning.
Junior, trained by David Pipe is likely to enter this race. He has been given the odds of 14 to 1 in this race. Pipe stated on his website that: "He departing at the second fence and as such he doesn't know that he has had a race."
He also added: "We have left him in the Scottish National and he could well participate in that, although he will have to contend with top weight."
The nine-year-old gelding last competed in the Grade 3 John Smith's Grand National Chase at Aintree on 14th April, 2012. He stumbled on a fence and fell, because of which he could not complete the race.
Lie Forrit, trained by William Amos is also collecting major bets for this race as he will enter with the odds of 12 to 1.
Due to the changing weather conditions, the surface of the track was first labelled good. But it was changed to good to soft, and it is good to firm in different places after the down pour.
Emma Marley, a clerk of the course stated that she is hoping for some more rain so that the track is in ideal condition.
This mega event will feature some of the most talented runners and will make for an exciting event.
