will start. Our school has a freshman, jv and varsity football teams. He just wants to play. He weight lifts and has never missed a practice. At the end of last season he finished out on varsity, lettered, but had very little play time. Wants the experience so he can start varsity, but the coaches have their favorites and still want him there for backup. Jv coaches want him but varsity says he cant play on jv. that's the rule. Is there such a rule that doesn't allow a 15 yr. old Junior to play on JV.

  1. My former high school would routinely send down juniors to the JV to get playing time if they were not getting it on the Varsity, but they would still suit up for Varsity games as well.  It does sound frustrating that it's one or the other.  Have you thought of transferring him to a Catholic high school because residency requiremnets do not have to be met as opposed to trying to transfer to another public school.

  2. It might just be a coaches rule..Maybe hes to good for the JV and he is needed on the varsity in case someone gets hurt. I do know that some leagues or states rule that you can not promote from jv to varsity dduringthe season.

  3. how are you 15 and playing varsity?
