Junior players offered a chance to make it to Kraft Nabisco Championship
The Kraft Nabisco Championship, which is going to be staged from March 29 to April 1 at Mission Hills, Rancho Mirage, California, is offering plenty of chances to junior players to join its field through the Fresh & Easy-Kraft Foods Legacy Junior Challenge.
Since the major championship is starting from March 29, the event for juniors is scheduled to be played on March 27, at the Arnold Palmer Course, Mission Hills Country Club.
The criterion to pick the players for the Kraft Nabisco Championship is that the one with the lowest score will get a sponsor’s exemption.
The Fresh & Easy-Kraft Foods Legacy Junior Challenge is likely to stage a tough battle because there will be one member from the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour.
In addition to the participation of one LPGA member, there will be 19 players in the field. In order to provide opportunities to the younger players, the threshold for age is set at 13 years to 17 years.
CEO of Fresh & Easy Neighbourhood Market, Tim Mason said that the event will open doors to several young players seeking to start their career at a much bigger level.
Shedding light on his firm’s cooperation with Kraft Foods, Mason said that organising the event together will prove beneficial for the entities.
Moreover, he said that events like the Kraft Nabisco Championship will feature not only the leading payers on the LPGA Tour, but also junior players, who will spice up the event.
“We are pleased to partner with Kraft Foods in an event that will provide a talented junior golfer with the opportunity to tee it up in 2012 Kraft Nabisco Championship,” he said.
“The Fresh & Easy Kraft Foods Legacy Junior Challenge will showcase the greats of the LPGA while highlighting the future of women's golf. Playing in this event will be the opportunity of a lifetime for several talented young women golfers,” Mason added.
David Blake Thomas, Executive Director and Chairman of the Kraft Nabisco Championship, said that junior players are the key component, as they help in boosting growth of golf.
“This is why we are excited to see these young women battle it out at the Fresh & Easy-Kraft Foods Legacy Junior Challenge to earn the chance of a lifetime,” Thomas said.
