Jupp Heynckes: Bayern Munich will not undermine the capabilities of Ingolstadt on Wednesday
The Bundesliga leaders, Bayern Munich, are just a few hours away from their DFB Pokal game against the 2. Bundesliga side FC Ingolstadt. The Bavarians manager Jupp Heynckes has warned his team against complacency despite being clear favourites to win the
clash, which has already been termed ‘a mis-match’.
The two contrasting sides will lock horns on Wednesday, October 26, at Allianz-Arena. The winner of tonight’s game will qualify for third round of the competition.
Heynckes stated that his team are not considering Ingolstadt, easy opponents, and would go all out in order to progress through.
The manager, at the same time, confirmed about the absence of Dutch international, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 winger will once again be missing from the playing XI due to his continued hernia problem.
Robben has only made four league appearances this season, scoring twice in return. The winger was due to return earlier this month, but unfortunately, it never happened.
Heynckes expressed confidence in his entire unit and encouraged them to mesmerize their opponents by adapting an attacking approach.
While talking to the club’s official website, the former Leverkusen tactician further enthused, "You must never underestimate your opponents as you never win a match just by turning up. We won't be making these mistakes. We’ll prepare just as intensively
and meticulously as always. We'll leave nothing to chance.”
The 66-year-old mentioned that Ingolstadt can prove brutal in patches and Bayern will have to be aware of this danger. He urged his players not to underestimate their ‘tricky’ opponents and try win big in order to regain confidence, which got dented after
Sunday’s loss to Hannover.
Heynckes closed his remarks by saying, "Obviously Ingolstadt have had some poor results, but they always play well for at least a half. They were 3–1 up against Bochum and they led 1–0 against Duisburg, but ended up losing both matches.”
Bayern are currently leading the Bundesliga table with 22 points from 10 games, followed closely by Borussia Dortmund, Schalke and Hannover.
After tonight’s game, the Bavarian giants will return to the league action against FC Nurnberg on Saturday, October 29.
