The Bayern Munich manager has insisted that he is ready to pick up three points as the Reds travel to Dortmund.
Bayern Munich manager, Jupp Heynckes, has expressed his desire to continue the winning run and demolish Dortmund in the midweek fixture. He was talking ahead of his side’s visit to the Westfalenstadion on Wednesday, April 11. He
mentioned that his main priority currently is to lead Bayern towards the three points in whatever manner they come.
Heynckes also talked about the Augsburg game at the weekend where Bayern were made to sweat hard despite playing at home. The Reds hosted Jos Luhukay’s men on Saturday, April 7, at the Allianz Arena and won the game 2-1. Mario
Gomez scored both goals for the home side in the 1st and 60th minute after Koo Ja-Cheol had equalised for the visitors on the 23rd minute mark.
While talking during the post-match press conference, the tactician further added: "All that matters during this phase of a game every three days, is winning, and that's what we've done.”
Heynckes admitted that Augsburg were brilliant on the night and Bayern were lucky to have found the net on the second occasion. He reserved praise for his opponents who made the journey difficult in what was anticipated to be an
easy outing for the Munich giants.
"I always knew it would be tight, and I believe I've been proven right. Augsburg drew away to Hannover and Bremen, and at home to Dortmund. They’re a very good unit and well-organised. We didn't find a way to break them down in
the first half, we were hesitant and too slow. We hit the gas after the break," the boss concluded.
Bayern are currently second in the league standings with 63 points, three adrift of the reigning German champions. The Reds will take on the Borussians in the midweek which undoubtedly is a ‘do-or-die’ game for both sides.
A win for Bayern will take them level on points with Jurgen Klopp’s men whereas a Dortmund win will open a six point gap between the two sides.
