The Bayern Munich manager has showered praise on his players after the impressive performance against Schalke last week.
As Bayern Munich prepare for their next league game against Bayer Leverkusen at the BayArena, Jupp Heynckes has hailed his player’s ability to cope with pressure.
He reckons that each player realises his role at the club and is confident that the team will continue with the momentum for the remainder of the season.
The Bavarian giants are fresh from a 2-0 win over Schalke last Sunday which leaves them four points adrift of the current leaders, Borussia Dortmund. Heynckes mentioned that the reporters are always in search of a crisis situation
at Bayern which puts extra pressure on the players.
Heynckes opines that the players at the Allianz Arena are mentally tough and can cope with all the pressure at this point of the season. He expressed his disappointment at the way media has lashed out at Bayern in the recent weeks
especially after the Reds lost 1-0 to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Basel-c39079 in the first-leg of their UEFA Champions League knock-out stage last month.
While talking to reporters ahead of the game against Werkself, the former Leverkusen manager further added:
"Every player who plays at Bayern Munich knows that Bayern Munich is a particularly special club. Whenever we lose then it is latched onto almost immediately by the media to the world, regardless of whether it's a friendly or losing
the away game of a Champions League tie 1-0.”
The manager stated that level of criticism is common at a big club and the players must learn to deal with it. He opined that the players are determined to perform in the game against Leverkusen as they know the importance of all
three points.
"Whenever that happens people are jumping over another to report on the latest 'crisis' at Bayern. It's something though that the players have to deal with here, but I think they cope with it well," Heynckes concluded.
Bayern are currently second in the Bundesliga with 48 points from 23 games and a win over Leverkusen will leave them one point short of the Borussians provided they lose their next game to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166.
