The Bayern Munich manager has expressed his delight after the comprehensive win against Hoffenheim at the weekend that closes the gap on Borussia Dortmund.
Bayern Munich manager, Jupp Heynckes, has expressed his pleasure after a remarkable turnaround at the weekend against Hoffenheim. The Reds played hosts to Markus Babbel’s men on Saturday, March 10, and emerged as 7-1 winners. Mario
Gomez scored a hat-trick while http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toni-Kroos-c35425 and Franck Ribery also scored a goal each for the home side.
The tactician admitted that he was impressed to see his team making most of their chances unlike the Bayer Leverkusen game where the Munich giants squandered a number of opportunities to eventually lose the game by a 2-0 margin.
While talking to Bayern’s official website, the former Leverkusen manager further added:
"Overall, it was a classy performance. The way we made our goals was straight out of the textbook. It was a joy to watch. We built up a real head of steam. By contrast with the match in Leverkusen, we made the most of our chances
today. If we had done the same thing there, we would have won.”
Heynckes believes that his players could not have responded any better after recent criticism from the German media. He was pleased with the fact that his team kept control of the possession and combined extremely well as a unit.
"We were totally focused today, and we closed down the space, fought for possession, and played really good football too. It was good for Schweinsteiger, Olic and Tymoschuk to get playing time. The group was hungry and played as
a unit. I really enjoyed it," Heynckes concluded.
Bayern’s first team trio, Robben, Gomez and Jerome Boateng, suffered minor knocks after the game which is a concern for Heynckes just ahead of the crucial UEFA Champions League game against Basel. The Bavarian giants need to win
at least by a two-goal margin to keep their dreams alive of playing the finals at the Allianz-Arena.
As a result of Hoffenheim win, Bayern are now five points short of present leaders, Borussia Dortmund. The Borussians could only manage a draw against Augsburg which is the first time that Jurgen Klopp’s side dropped points since
returning from the winter break.
