The Bayern Munich manager wants his troops to get their acts together ahead of the game against Schalke this weekend.
Jupp Heynckes has warned his team against complacency in the clash against Die Knappen and wants the team to get back to winning ways. The manager was heavily disappointed by his side’s loss to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Basel-c39079 in the UEFA Champions League.
Bayern lost the first-leg of their knock-out stage encounter away from home.
Bayern lost 1-0 to the Swiss outfit and will return to action against Schalke in the Bundesliga on Sunday, February 26, in their bid to win this season’s German crown. The record German champions have recently been on a decline
in both the competitions and their manager has demanded to turn things around sooner rather later.
Heynckes reckons that the players must learn from their mistakes and should be looking to overcome Schalke’s challenge, who themselves are in search for a place in the top three.
The Bavarian giants are currently one point clear of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues and three points at the weekend will put them four points clear of their opponents. It will also take Bayern from only one point of Borussia Monchengladbach,
who only managed a draw at home to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamburger-SV-c39485 on Friday, February 24.
While talking to reporters ahead of the game, the tactician further added:
"The 1-0 in Basle was a game which should have shaken everybody up now. We now need to go in a different direction, all together. We need to become a unit again as quickly as possible and teamwork is the priority - the personal
interests of individual players must be put to one side."
On the other hand, Heynckes admitted that his side has been in some disappointing form off late. He opined that Bayern have not been the same as they were prior to going into the winter break. The manager stressed at the importance
of teamwork against Huub Stevens’ men, who are fresh from a 3-1 win in the UEFA Europa League.
"We are in a precarious situation. We are no longer playing the fluid, self-confident football that we were before the winter break. Now everybody in the team must work on us getting this success back," Heynckes concluded.
Bayern’s fierce title rivals, Borussia Dortmund, are currently sitting atop the league standings with 49 points and will also be in action on Sunday against Hannover at the Signal Iduna Park.
