The Bayern Munich manager has expressed his satisfaction after beating Nuremberg and closing the gap on Borussia Dortmund.
Jupp Heynckes has showed his pleasure after his side emerged as 1-0 winners against Nuremberg in the Bavarian derby. Both sides met on Saturday, March 31, at the easyCredit-Stadion with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arjen-Robben-c6521 scoring the only goal of the
game in the 69th minute.
The manager admitted that the home side played extremely well and were outstanding in the first-half. He accepted that the Reds felt the pressure after a goalless first period and two quick substitutions in the next period paved
the way for a much needed goal. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danijel-Pranjic-c10154 in the 57th.
The experienced duo accelerated the pace of the game and immediately made an impact by creating a couple of glorious scoring opportunities. The hard work finally paid off when Robben continued his goal scoring touch and blazed
his volley past Raphael Schafer to help Bayern close the gap on the reigning German champions, Borussia Dortmund.
While talking to a local spots magazine, Kicker, the former Bayer Leverkusen tactician further added:
"It was an intense game. I knew Nurnberg would be well-organised, and play defensively, and we also came under pressure in the first half. In the second half, after the substitutions, we had good scoring chances, so I think it
was a deserved victory for Bayern."
Bayern are now three points short of the Borussians at the second spot and could pose a serious threat for Jurgen Klopp’s side, which dropped points this weekend against Stuttgart. With six games remaining in the Bundesliga, the
Reds would ideally want to gain all the 18 points to stay in contention for the title.
Heynckes’ team also stands a chance of completing a treble this season as they are already in the final of the German Cup and recorded a 2-0 win away from home against Olympique Marseille in the first-leg of their UEA Champions
League quarter-final tie.
The Munich giants will next be in action against Les Phoceens on Tuesday, April 3, at the Allianz-Arena for their quarter-final second-leg before returning to league action on Saturday, April 7, against FC Augsburg.
