The Bayern Munich manager has expressed delight at his side’s progression into the last-four of the UEFA Champions League and wants to win silverware this season.
Jupp Heynckes has expressed his desire to win silverware in the current campaign and is pleased after Bayern Munich progressed through to the last-four of the UEFA Champions League. He was talking in the wake of his side’s 2-0
win over Olympique Marseille in the second-leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie on Tuesday, April 3, at the Allianz Arena.
The manager mentioned that it is encouraging to qualify for the semis especially after having qualified for the final of the German Cup and reducing the gap on Borussia Dortmund to just three points in the Bundesliga.
Heynckes congratulated his side on this achievement but urged them to continue performing the way they have been. He stated that only reaching the final will not be enough after putting an outstanding show in Europe all season.
While talking to sportinglife.com, the boss further added: "I told my team that the (German) Cup final, the chance to win the Bundesliga and reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League are all great successes, but we want
to have trophies in our hands at the end of the season."
On the other hand, Bayern chairman, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge claimed that the Reds are in decent shape at the moment and played down reports that the players are tired due to a hectic schedule. He mused that Bayern can win a treble
this season especially with their current form.
"I think the team is in a good condition and is well prepared for the hectic weeks. We have a game every three or four days and you have got to have good nerves for that, and we have those, I think. We are ready for everything,"
Rummenigge concluded.
Bayern and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and Real Madrid are yet to play their second-leg fixtures on Wednesday, April 4, against Benfica and
APOEL Nicosia respectively.
The Reds will next be seen in action against FC Augsburg on Saturday, April 7, at the Allianz Arena.
