The Bayern Munich manager is wary of Freiburg’s threat and has urged his side against complacency.
Jupp Heynckes wants to take nothing for granted ahead of their game against this season’s relegation candidates, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SC-Freiburg-c40462. Christian Streich’s men will host the Allianz-Arena outfit on Saturday, February 18, at the badenova-Stadion.
The manager stated that Freiburg had a brilliant game against Wolfsburg last Friday which they eventually lost. He opined that his players will have to work hard to formulate a win on their trip as the hosts have considerably improved
under their new manager.
The former Bayer Leverkusen tactician insisted that Freiburg have young players in their ranks who have the pace, therefore, Bayern will need to settle down quickly in conditions that might favour the home side. While talking to
reporters ahead of the game, the 66-year-old further added:
"Last Friday we saw Freiburg against Wolfsburg in the hotel together and you've obviously read or have been informed that Freiburg played well and lost unluckily. They run a lot, play a good pressing game, they can run fast."
Bayern are fresh from a 2-0 win over FC Kaiserslautern and would be looking to close the gap on current leaders, Borussia Dortmund. Only two points separate both the sides but Bayern cannot afford to drop any more points as it
will extend Dortmund’s lead atop the standings.
On the other hand, Heynckes also showered praise on Freiburg and reckons that the side are getting better and better with time. He urged his players to stay on their toes from the first minute and not underestimate their opponents,
who have managed just one win from their last five outings.
"When you look at the team then you have to say that the make-up is different now. They have young, aggressive players and I think they're remarkable opponents and we need a top performance," Heynckes concluded.
Bayern’s progress is also being closely monitored by Borussia Monchengladbach and Schalke who are not too far away from clinching the top spot.
