The Bayern Munich manager has insisted that he wants to take everything as it comes and admits that winning the Champions League will not be easy.
The Bavarian giants have potentially qualified for the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League after getting the better of Olympique Marseille in the first-leg at the Stade Velodrome with a 2-0 scoreline. Mario Gomez and Arjen
Robben were amongst the goals as the former European champions pulled an amazing away win.
Heynckes insisted that he is not thinking of the semi-final yet as the second-leg is still to be played against the French side. The manager admitted that Marseille are well capable of staging a comeback in the return leg and warned
his side against complacency.
The former Bayer Leverkusen boss added that Bayern are not thinking about a possible clash with Real Madrid, who defeated APOEL in their first-leg clash. He insisted that the team will be prepared for it when the time comes and
is confident of progressing to the final of the competition which will be played at the Allianz Arena.
“We've not spoken about Real yet, not least because we own Marseille the respect due to them. We're also very aware that we still have 90 minutes to play against them. After that we can talk about potential future opponents,” he
was quoted as saying in an interview.
The tactician played down media claims that Bayern are one of the favourites to win the Champions League, stating that there are some teams which are arguably better than his side. He stressed that the likes of Barcelona, Real
Madrid and AC Milan can prove to be stern tests for his side.
“You have http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604, Real Madrid and AC Milan still in the competition, who may be a little bit further down the road than we are. So we shouldn't make the mistake of thinking about something which is such a long way away. I'm
taking everything as it comes,” he concluded.
