Jupp Heynckes unhappy with his team’s loss to Borussia Dortmund - Bundesliga News
Having slipped for the second successive time at home to Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich manager, Jupp Heynckes, has shown displeasure at his side’s loss. He also praised the Borussians at their emphatic display and predicted
a tough campaign ahead for his team.
Heynckes was talking in the wake of his team’s loss 1-0 loss at hands of Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, November 19. This was the second successive time that Jupp Heynckes’ men slipped at home to the reigning German champions;
their previous defeat came last season when the winter champions ran 3-1 winners.
Bayern started the game with a five-point advantage over Jurgen Klopp’s men and were clear favourites in front of a jam packed Allianz-Arena.
After going into the dugout 0-0 at half time, Mario Gotze eventually opened the deadlock which made the difference at the end of 90 minutes.
The manager opined that Bayern were a bit too cautious in their approach, accounting for their own downfall. He reckoned that had Gomez and company been more positive, Bayern would certainly have gotten better of their opponents.
Heynckes believes that the title race is wide open and that Saturday’s loss was a setback.
While talking to reporters after the game, the former Bayer Leverkusen supremo further enthused:
"When you play against Borussia Dortmund, you need to pose much more pressure than we have done today. We have not understood how to increase the tempo and create scoring chances.”
He also stated, "We have had until the final phase, when we had two clear chances to score. The goal was very unfortunate, and in my view this was a typical 0-0 game."
The tactician also reserved praise for the young Borussians who never lost the plot despite being away from home. He also hailed Dortmund’s teenage sensation, Mario Gotze, whose only strike was enough to sink the Reds at Allianz-Arena.
In spite of losing at home to the reigning champions, Bayern are still atop the league table by a slim margin, and are being closely followed by both the Borussian outfits - Dortmund and Gladbach. These two sides are level on points,
at 26, in second and third place respectively.
