Bayern Munich manager expresses his desire of retaining the Dutch international despite reports linking him with a move away from Allianz Arena
Jupp Heynckes has landed support to injury-prone winger, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arjen-Robben-c6521, by wishing to retain him at Allianz-Arena.
Robben is tipped to leave Bayern at the end of the 2011/12 season as the club have reportedly lost patience with his injury problems. It is believed that the Dutchman will be replaced by Borussia Monchengladbach striker, Marco
Reus, whose transfer to Munich is on the cards after his impressive performances at Borussia Park this season.
Bayern CEO, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, has already advised Reus to spend another year with the Foals to further polish his skills before testing them at a bigger club. It is therefore unlikely that the youngster would join the Reds
next summer. Reus’ buy-out clause of 17.5 million Euros might also be a stumbling block in his move to the former German Champions.
On the other hand, the Bayern manager believes that Robben can do wonders at the club and Die Roten cannot afford to lose him. He added that the winger has been unfortunate with injuries but he could still play a vital role in
the club’s success.
The former Leverkusen tactician has urged the Bavarian bosses to offer an extended contract to the Dutchman.
While talking to Kicker, the manager further elaborated:
"We need a top player like him [Robben]. Personally, I would definitely advise the club to offer him a new deal. He is a player who can really make a difference. I have a feeling that the tendency within the club is to offer him
an extension as well."
Robben landed at Allianz-Arena in 2009 after spending two years with Real Madrid. The 27-year-old has featured in 45 league games and has bagged 32 goals thus far.
Support from Heynckes will certainly calm the nerves of the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 winger and he might decide to stay on with the club.
