Bayern Munich have the upper hand after the first-leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid courtesy goals from Franck Ribery and Mario Gomez. However, Los Blancos pulled a vital away goal in the game through
Mesut Ozil which could prove crucial in determining the eventual result.
Heynckes claimed that Real Madrid have been arguably the best team in Europe this season and has stated that Jose Mourinho’s side were the favourites to win the semi-final clash. However, the tactician added that Bayern have proved
their worth by outclassing the Spanish giants in the first-leg and is aiming for a repeat in the second fixture.
The former Bayer Leverkusen boss added that it will be a very tough game at the Santiago Bernabeu and warned the Reds against the threat Real can be. He insisted that the team needs to be on their toes to come up with a favourable
result.
“Until two weeks ago, we said that Barcelona were the benchmark for all things. But now Real have won in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 - this makes the game at the Bernabeu a very difficult one for Bayern,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Heynckes admitted that the result from the first-leg is certainly an advantage for his side but stressed on the importance of scoring an away goal. He admitted that the fans will witness a great match and some great attacking football.
“The first leg result is a little advantage for us. But Real have shown this season that they can score a scary amount of goals. But we have a good balance between defence and offence, so you can prepare yourselves for a treat
of football. This will be a battle of giants,” he concluded.
Bayern Munich and Real Madrid will lock heads at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night to confirm the second finalist for this year’s UEFA Champions League. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 downed Barcelona in the other semi-final to book their place
