Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes reiterated his desire to stay with the club and hailed his strikers.

Bayern finished yet another season empty handed. Last season the club was famous for choking at the big stage, or when they had to step up to the plate. Jupp Heynckes’ side could have won the treble at the end of last season.
In the Bundesliga, they finished eight points behind the eventual champions Borussia Dortmund; Jurgen Klopp’s side piled further misery on their rivals by beating them in the DFB Pokal final.
Die Roten’s disappointments trebled when they surrendered a 1-0 lead to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, after dominating them for almost 120 minutes. The Bavarian giants only had themselves to blame when the West London club clinched the European Champions’
title.
After an unsuccessful season, Bayern’s President Uli Hoeness held several discussions with the club’s board of directors and supervisors. Following the discussions, FCB announced that the club’s Sporting Director Christian Nerlinger
will be relieved of his duties, and Matthias Sammer will replace him.
After Sammer’s appointment, reports started to circulate that Jupp Heynckes might step down from his post. Club’s new Sporting Director was appointed to keep a close eye on the manager’s performance. Even Bayern’s 67-year old tactician
revealed there was a lot of speculation regarding his future at the club.
The former Borussia Monchengladbach coach insists that he enjoys a cordial relationship with the board and they keep him up to date with any new developments.
"It was speculated that I would step down. The board and I have a very open relationship and that is why I am informed about all things. I think you have to be prepared for all eventualities,” he is quoted as saying in an interview.
The manager maintains he is looking forward to the new season and will honour his contract which runs out in a few years time.
The tactician also hailed Mario Gomez, his club’s top scorer last season, and reckons the 26-year old is a top striker. Heynckes stated that he has faith in him, despite the striker’s poor showing in Germany’s last game. He believes
the club’s new signings, Mario Mandzukic and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Claudio-Pizarro-c9324, could have won them the Champions league if he had signed them last season.

"I want to fulfill my contract. We have strengthened the squad substantially. I have always had faith in Gomez and that remains, but if we had had Mandzukic and Pizarro in the Champions League final, then we might have been able to win it," he added.
Heynckes will be under immense pressure to end the club’s trophy barren run and his performance will be constantly monitored by the newly appointed Sporting Director, Matthias Sammer.
