Jurgen Klopp: Borussia Dortmund were the worthy winners against Werder Bremen - Bundesliga News
After securing second spot on the table and beating Werder Bremen at Weserstadion, Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp is ecstatic with his team’s change in fortunes.
Dortmund travelled away to Weserstadion on Friday, October 14, beating the home side by a comfortable 2-0 margin. Perisic and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrick-Owomoyela-c29304 registered their names on the score sheet.
Bremen started the game as favourites but it was the visitors, who got better of Thomas Schaaf’s side. Midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-Lewandowski-c31255 made
life difficult for the River Islanders but lacked finishing which saved Bremen’s blushes to some extent.
Perisic opened the scoring on the 42nd minute mark which was doubled by Owomoyela in the 71st minute. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ivan-c17215 then earned himself a red card at the start of the second half, a decision which wasn’t taken kindly by the Borussians manager.
Klopp believes that Ivan Perisic was unlucky to have received a red card and reckoned that the referee was being harsh on his player since Ivan certainly got the ball first.
During the post match presentation, the manager enthused, "It was an open game and we defended really well. We also showed lots of passion. I think we really deserved the win."
The tactician also showered praise on his team’s defence for staying firm throughout the 90 minutes. He applauded them for their efforts especially in second half, when the reigning champions were reduced to ten men very early in the piece.
Defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Neven-Subotic-c27632 also reserved praise for his teammates on reading the situation properly that enabled the Black Yellows to notch up a much needed win.
He concluded the talks by saying, "After the sending off we knew we would have to fight on. We worked hard and we used our opportunities well.”
The win on Friday was Dortmund’s fifth of the campaign which has helped them earn second spot on league table. The defending champions are three points adrift of the current leaders, Bayern Munich, and are next up against FC Koln on Saturday, October 22.
