Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that the German champions had tried to sign former Bayer Munich forward Miroslav Klose in this summer’s transfer window. He admitted that he has been a huge admirer of the German
international and he tried to lure him to Signal Iduna Park but things could not work out.

The manager claimed that Klose was on a free transfer and everybody wanted him. He admitted that the club also had negotiations with the player for a possible move but the German wanted to face a new challenge which is why he ended
up in the Serie A.
“Miro was a free transfer. Who would not think about him, has a shot against the bar. But he was not content to brace for us technically,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.

Klopp also expressed his frustration on the European qualifiers scheduled after the season ends as he feels that the players do not get the required time off they need and that results in injuries during the season because of which
the club suffers. He feels that the games should be played during the season and not after the campaign ends.
“That really annoys me - because this is mad! Internationals in the summer must be abolished. End, Off! Otherwise we do break the players. People
also need time alone,” the tactician concluded.
Borussia Dortmund will start the new season against Hamburg SV on Friday, August 5.
