“It was a great performance by my team. For the first time this season, we brought our game,” the former Mainz 05 player added.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel also made an appearance in the mouth-watering clash as she supports the DFB-Pokal cup winners. Therefore, Klopp offered the government official a free pass to attend the home games of the Borussians.
He said that Angela can come to every match at her own will.
“If she likes, she can come and watch every fortnight,” the two-time German Football Manager of the Year finally concluded.
The Ruhr side is delighted with their start of the season and Klopp’s counterpart Leverkusen coach Sascha Lewandowski was frustrated with his team’s showing, suggesting that his players lacked the energy levels of a competitive
match. The league champions are now fourth in the league standings after three games.
Dortmund will play Dutch side Ajax in their UEFA Champions League tie on Tuesday.
