The Borussia Dortmund manager is unperturbed despite only managing a point against Augsburg at the weekend.
Borussia Dortmund dropped their first points since returning from the mid-season break after only managing a draw against relegation threatened FC Augsburg. The Fuggerstadter played hosts to the reigning German champions on Saturday,
March 10, at the SGL arena with both teams playing out a 0-0 draw.
This tie has left Dortmund just five points clear of Bayern Munich. Dortmund manager, Jurgen Klopp reckons that there is nothing to worry about at this stage as his side are still in the driving seat. He believes that the Borussians
fought extremely hard but were unlucky not to have gained the advantage.
At the same time, the tactician also reserved praise for the opposition. He opined that Augsburg were well-prepared for the game and defended solidly.
While talking to reporters after the game, Klopp further added:
"We had our work cut out today, and with luck we could have got the win. However, we have not earned more than a point. Augsburg fought passionately, [but nevertheless] we have not lost for 19 games."
The Black Yellows have not lost in the Bundesliga in the past 19 games which makes them the hot favourites to retain their crown this season. On the other hand, Bayern Munich have been in dismal form this year and are continuously
keeping check on the Borussians’ progress this term.
Jupp Heynckes’ men recently closed the gap on Dortmund after thrashing Hoffenheim at home by an emphatic 7-1 margin. This has left the Reds just five points adrift of the current leaders with nine games remaining in the competition.
Klopp, though, is confident of keeping Bayern at bay for the remainder of this season by achieving maximum points out of the 27 available. The manager has no major injury concerns apart from Mario Gotze, who is expected to return
to training in a week’s time.
The Borussians will next be in action against Werder Bremen on Saturday, March 17, at the Signal Iduna Park.
