Jurgen Klopp pleased with Borussia Dortmund’s display in Europe – Football News
Borussia Dortmund manager, Jurgen Klopp, has admitted that the side’s amazing performances this season have surprised him.
Die Borussen will take on Bayern Munich in the final of the UEFA Champions League on Saturday, May 25, at the Wembley Stadium in London. The clash is expected to be a mouth-watering one as the two German sides
face each other later this week.
Dortmund have been a surprise package in Europe this season as they have reached their first European final since 1997, when they won the competition after beating Juventus in the final with a 3-1 scoreline.
Jurgen Klopp claimed that he is surprised with his team’s showing in Europe thus far this season. He admitted that the team has been playing sensational football and is confident that Dortmund will win the competition.
The club was drawn in the ‘Group of Death’ with the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City and Ajax Amsterdam. The Germans managed to win the group and then defeated the likes of Shakhtar Donetsk, Malaga CF and
Real Madrid before reaching the final.
“The best feelings we've had so far were when we made it into the second round, because it was pretty special how we managed to do it. The way the team played in the group stage was pretty surprising, and the
match at Manchester City was an eye-opener for us - it showed we could compete with the strongest teams in Europe or even achieve more against them,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166 boss stated that his side will treat the final as a normal game and will make sure they come out victorious in the end. The manager admitted that this is Borussia Dortmund’s
most important game of the season.
“The trick is to treat it like a normal game, but execute it in a special way, and we will do that. And that will be decisive,” the tactician concluded.
Borussia Dortmund finished second in the German Bundesliga behind Bayern Munich. They accumulated a total of 66 points and qualified for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League next season.
