Jurgen Melzer/Philipp Petzschner beat Lukas Dlouhy/Paul Hanley 6-2, 4-6, 10-6
Austrian/German pair of Jurgen Melzer and Philipp Petzschner edged past Czech/Australian pair of Lukas Dlouhy and Paul Hanley, ranked 9th in the world, in three sets 6-2, 4-6, 10-8 to qualify for the quarter-finals of
the men’s doubles event.
Melzer and Petzschner did not face much resistance in the opening set, breaking their opponents twice to win the set 6-2. The Austrian/German pair saved all the 4 break points they faced in the first set. In comparison, their opponents
failed to save both break points they faced in the opening set.
In the second set, Dlouhy and Hanley needed a single break of serve, winning the set 6-4. The Czech/Australian pair delivered a couple of aces and 52 per cent of the first serves in the second set.
Melzer and Petzschner dominated the match tie-break, clinching 3 mini-breaks to claim it 10-6. The match lasted for 1 hour and 8 minutes.
The world number 6 pair is drawn to face Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram of Israel in the quarter-finals. Erlich and Ram ousted Croatian pair of Marin Cilic and Ivan Ljubicic 6-3, 7-6(5) in the second round.

Austrian/Serbian pair of Oliver Marach and Janko Tipsarevic upset the top seeded pair of Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan of USA in straight sets 7-5, 6-4 in the second round at the Sony Ericsson Open on Monday. The Austrian/Serbian pair
took 1 hour and 15 minutes to oust their opponents.
Marach and Tipsarevic broke their opponents in the eleventh game and held their next service game to win the opening set 7-5. They hit a single ace and 2 double faults in the first set. The Austrian/Serbian pair delivered 53 per
cent of the first serves, winning 68 per cent of the points on them. Marach and Tipsarevic converted 2 of the 3 break points they received in the opening set.
Bryans were broken once in the second set, losing it 4-6. They served pretty well as they fired 3 aces and 82 per cent of the first serves. They converted 74 per cent of the first serves into points. However, the American pair
failed to save 1 of the 4 break points it faced in the second set. On the other hand, Marach and Tipsarevic managed to save the only break point they faced in the second set.
The Austrian/Serbian pair will meet “The Indo-Pak Express” Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi in the quarter-finals. Bopanna and Qureshi prevailed over Slovakian/Belgian pair of Michal Mertinak and d**k Norman 7-6(4), 3-6,
10-8 in the second round.
