The former Helmond Sport boss was satisfied with his side’s performance despite losing the game 3-2 at the end, and revealed that his troops staged an impressive and daring show throughout the 90 minutes.

The 43-year-old tactician, who took the reins of the Tricolours at the start of the 2011/12 campaign, insisted that his troops put in a good show against the Eindhoven giants throughout the match.
“We put in a solid team display. We intended to quickly switch from defence to attack. Our game plan worked well in the first half, when we scored two goals”, Streppel was quoted as saying to the media in the post-match press conference.
The visiting side started proceedings in Eindhoven aggressively, and surprised PSV with their impressive counter-attacking show.
In the 16th minute, the Tricolours were rewarded for their better play, when Jens Podevijn found the back of the net to give his side a deserving lead.
Seven minutes later, the Boeren goalkeeper, Boy Waterman, had no answer to Niek Vossebelt’s impressive strike from the edge of the box that found the top right corner of the net to make the score-line 2-0.
Although, the Tilburg outfit created couple of decent opportunities to extend their lead further before the half-time break, they failed to hit the target.
The Eindhoven giants resumed action in the second-half brilliantly. In spite of enjoying lion’s share of ball possession, they failed to hit the target until Kevin Strootman’s goal in the 67th minute.
In the 79th minute, Strootman’s strike levelled the score-line, while Tim Matavz’s strike only three minutes later ensured that the hosts bag all three points at the end of 90 minutes.
Streppel admitted that his side failed to control the game in the second-half, but he still praised his troops’ efforts.
“But, after the break we were forced to defend deeper and deeper. We had hoped to surprise PSV in the counter attack but that was a mission impossible. We aimed to pull off a shock result but it was not to be. Yet I’m proud of my players: they worked very,
very hard and provided tough resistance”, Streppel concluded.
