Jurgen Van Den Broeck aiming the mountain stages to cut down Bradley Wiggins’ lead
Jurgen Van Broeck of Team Lotto Belisol is currently holding the eighth overall position after the Tour de France stage 10 classifications.
He is 4 minutes and 48 seconds behind the race leader Bradley Wiggins and is a strong contender for the final general classifications.
Broeck noted that the best time to overcome Team Sky’s dominance at the race is during the mountainous stages.
Team Sky has shown some tremendous performances in the current season with the major contribution coming through Bradley Wiggins.
The British team is leading the UCI World Tour team’s ranking with a total number of 803 UCI points to its credit.
Bradley Wiggins (335 points), Michael Rogers (194 points), Rigoberto Uran (125 points), Edvald Boasson Hagen (77 points) and Richie Porte helping the side with 72 UCI points.
"To control the race they are the strongest but when others go full gas sometimes they're also on the limit," Jurgen cited.
"I think [our tactics] will be the same as all the other teams we're going to attack now. They [Team Sky] have a gap and we need to attack. When I put in the attack it's going to be full gas".
"We saw a couple of days ago that when Jelle [Vanendert] put up the tempo a lot of guys got in trouble. That will be nice because we've only had 10kms uphill until now".
The 29-year-old has not tasted any victories in the first half of the 2012 season and his only two admirable performances came during the Volta a Catalunya and the Criterium du Dauphine.
He finished fifth overall at the Criterium du Dauphine and rode exceptionally well to grab the third overall spot at the Volta a Catalunya.
Bradley Wiggins and Jurgen Van Den Broeck are not the only two overall classifications contenders as Cadel Evans, Christopher Froome and Vincenzo Nibali are all lined up to win the most competitive cycling event of the year.
