Jurgen Van Den Broeck to lead Team Lotto Belisol at the Vuelta a Espana 2012
Team Lotto Belisol’s Sports Director Marc Sergeant is positive that his side will continue performing at the third Grand Tour race of the season, the Vuelta a Espana.
While commenting on the team’s goals, Marc noted that winning at least one stage at each of the three Grand Tour races this year was his major objective.
Lars Bak helped the team with the stage 12 victory at the Giro d’Italia while Andre Greipel helped the side with the stage 4, stage 5 and a stage 13 victory at the Tour de France.
“Before the start of the season one of our goals was to win a stage in each of the three grand tours”.
“In the Giro Lars Bak succeeded and in the Tour, we grabbed three victories with André Greipel," Sergeant noted on the team’s website.
"Jurgen Van den Broeck leads our troops, though he’s starting this race in different condition to the Tour”.
“Jurgen prepared meticulously for the Tour and this has not been possible for the Vuelta, both physically and mentally”.
“He will contend for a stage win and if it appears that after two weeks he remains in the general classification, we can adjust our goals".
Team Lotto-Belisol currently holds the tenth overall position after the UCI World Tour team’s rankings with a total number of 522 UCI points to his credit.
