Jurgen Zopp ousts Razvan Sabau in qualifiers – BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy 2012
Qualifying third seed, Jurgen Zopp, tumbled over the Romanian contender, Razvan Sabau, in straight sets at the BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy 2012 on Sunday. He nudged up a 6-4, 6-3 victory against the 34-year-old to book a spot in
the final round of the qualifying competition at this ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) World Tour 250 series event held in Bucharest, Romania.
The Estonian star displayed brilliant tennis to outsmart Sabau in one hour and 18 minutes at the ATP World Tour 250 series tournament. After earning this limelight, Zopp convincingly charged into the final round of the qualifying
competition.
Zopp assertively entered the BNR Arenas and smoothly swiped in his entire serves after warding off the only breakpoint he faced. He cashed in the lone break opportunity and pulled out the opener with a 6-4 score line.
Ranked 125th in the South African Airways ATP World Tour Rankings, Zopp kept momentum rolling into the following set and comfortably kept his opening serve. Regardless of losing his serve once, the Estonian capitalised
on three out of five break chances to seal the set by winning six games to three.
Summing up the 24-year-old’s performance, Zopp hammered 10 aces and took full advantage of the five double faults Sabau coughed. He manifested a better first serve share of 69 per cent as compared to the Romanian’s 56 per cent
and magnificently clicked 30 out of 37 points on it.
He will square off against the Croatian contender, Nikola Mektic, who upset eighth seeded Kevin Krawietz in a three set thriller to set-up this meeting.
Hungary’s Attila Balazs will accompany Zopp in the final qualifying round. He stunned the top seed, Martin Klizan, in straight sets to progress.
The world number 450 was broken down twice but he cashed in five out of nine break opportunities to formulate a 6-3, 6-4 score line in one hour and 22 minutes. He produced a slightly higher first serve share of 64 per cent as compared
