I understand that if you're called for Jury Duty you must go there just to see if you qualify as being part of the Jurors. But Does an 85 year old man have to go if he was called to jury duty? He doesn't understand the english language and he can't walk much. So is he exempt from even showing up to the qualifiying of questioning of attorneys' to potential juror's phase.

  1. On the back of the form is a questionare, fill it out explaining the situation to the court.  Maybe they will dissmis him.

  2. Write or call the court house and explain the situation. Doing both is the best or at least write because it proves more. They should understand. I'm disabled and it worked for me.

  3. Louisiana exempts people for reasons of age, infirmity, and other issues of practicality.  A language barrier probably would make it.  But unfortunately for you, each state has the right to define qualifications for jurors.  So if your state has a different law than Louisiana, your question is hard to answer.
