Question:

Jury Duty - I am not available to attend, how can I be excused?

I was in France when I was "summoned" and I had to postpone it and I missed the 2nd date out of forgetfulness. The postponed date lies on the week I move back to France for an entire year, and then I will only be visiting in the US after that. How can I be excused from my jury duty? It is a legitimate reason, but it doesn't fall under the categories, and postponing again won't solve anything. Any suggestions?

  1. Say you're prejudice. They'll NEVER summon you again

  2. tell them you have been convicted of a crime, something like stealing, they wont bother to check and your on your way out the door so to speak!!!

  3. Quite honestly, the courts are tired of hearing  everybody say. "I can't make jury duty!" They are growing less and less tolerant, to the point where the only acceptable excuse is, you are dead, or , you are locked up in a prison in Mexico.

I suggest you call them ASAP and explain your tale of woe,or you may have a very difficult time getting aboard that airplane.

  4. hmmm FUGLIDOODILI

  5. Call the clerk of court and try to explain.  Be aware that they might say, "come in or have a warrant sworn out against you."

    Missing the 2nd date was a no-no.

Claiming non-residence for a year USUALLY provides an exemption, but that didn't apply to your 2nd date.  Hope you catch the good clerk of court as opposed to a person about to retire who doesn't care WHO gets busted.
