Question:

Jury Duty Woes – What will happen? Help!?

Let me first explain that I understand that Jury Duty is a responsibility given in exchange for the right to vote and drive in this country. I am not trying to underestimate the importance of a fair trial or snub the importance of doing my part.

Anyways - my neighbor often gets our mail, and yesterday evening showed up with a few unopened envelopes he had forgotten he had gotten in his mailbox, including my jury summons. I had been called to report the week of December 10th, and when I called, I found out that I had to report tomorrow in the middle of the afternoon. Honestly, had I gotten this summons in my own mailbox weeks ago, I would have sent it back with a request to postpone, because I am a teacher. I actually work with special needs children and adolescents with severe mental disabilities and aggressive behavior.

  1. Do Not worry about it.  Many people do not show up.  Don't make it a habit.

It was not sent registered or anything so how could they prove you even got the notice. They can not!!!
