I'm in LA, CA.

I just got call for jury duty. Acutally I'm not quilify for it, but somehow i misunderstood on their instructions and i'm now registered.

I'm not interested in goiong is because I'm still a high school student, and my graduation will be in June 08(jury duty on May). I dont want the time to be so close.

Is there any way that I can fix it?

thanks for answering!

  1. you are not old enough to serve on a jury right now. the summons must have been an error, just explain and you will be excused.

  2. You may write a letter to the judge stating why you do not think you are a good fit for jury duty and ask to be excused from this position.

When being questioned before the trial, you may also ask to be excused and state your reasons at that time.

I do think you should be open to serving on a jury when you are just a little older.  It's a great experience, one that you shouldn't miss.

  3. If all else fails, when the counsels for whatever case you get called to be on are conducting jury selection, do whatever you can to paint as unflattering a portrait of yourself as possible.
