Jury Duty!!?

I am 39w6d pregnant. My due date is tomorrow; however, my husband has been called for jury duty starting tomorrow! What are the chances he can get out of it? If he can't, will I be allowed to accompany him to the "trials" in case I go into labor (since cell phones won't be allowed how else would I reach him?) I know he has talked to one lady already and she couldn't give him any kind of answer as to what to do. Anyone have any thoughts?

  1. If he brings a statement from your doctor with him, I'm sure they'll excuse him.  It does not serve the interests of justice to have someone on the jury who, even if they want to fulfill their civic duty, has their mind somewhere else.  (Especially if you go into labor)

  2. The court will probably want to know why he shouldn't need to serve. You can most likely get an ambulance or call 911 when you enter labor. There's plenty of unwed mothers who seem to make due... and these are things that a judge will probably consider.

With that in consideration, based on this excuse, chances seem slim, as he's not needed to facilitate birth.

And making up a bogus excuse will come back to bite you one day, as parents should set good examples for their children.

Alternatively, you could go to the hospital now and not have to worry about anything.

  3. Have you husband speak to the judge before the trial. He must tell the judge everyone is guilty, because he is psychic. The judge should excuse him thinking he is crazy. Good Luck

  4. his duty will be deferred by the judge if he speaks up and tells the situation.

that's if he gets that far -- he should speak to the clerk as soon as he arrives and leave his cell phone "ON" no matter what.
