Question:

Jury Duty question "Malfeasance in office"?

I received a summon to jury duty but I have a misdemeanor. On the letter it says not qualified if I have been convicted of a felony or malfeasance in office. My question is if a misdemeanor is the same as malfeasance in office. Is it possible I can be exempt because I have a misdemeanor on my record about 3 years ago?

  1. I'm not a lawyer but Malfeasance in Office generally applies to elected officials. I'm not sure if a misdemeanor in the past prevents you from being on a jury. My advice would be to check with the Court.
