  1. It would be in her best interest to keep the fact that she's not a citizen a secret if she's in the country illegally. If she's here legally, there's not a problem. Either way, not speaking English should be an out (unless they have Spanish speaking only trials for those who don't speak English)..

  2. my mother happened to her the same thing here is my instructions   you could do two things it doesnt matter if she is a citizen or not just go and tell them that she needs an interpreter for her to translate for her but its entirely up to her if she chooses to go or not if she chooses to then email the clerk telling them she doesnt speak any or understand any english and the clerk will give you further instructions when the day she goes or appears but she has to go early to get it done then go to the window or desk ask for a claim saying that she needs an interpreter and theyll help her out but if she is not a US citizen then that will also disqualify her from participating in jury duty

  3. First:  For the people who were wondering, they use driver's license info as well as voter registrations to generate the jury pool list (or "venire") in many places.

Second:  You indicate that they might deport her.  Does that mean that she is in the country illegally?  If so, how does she have a driver's license?   The only way I can think of for an illegal to get a driver's license is to lie or use forged documentation.  How did she pass the test if she doesn't speak English?

If she's here legally you have nothing to worry about.  Just indicate that she is a legal alien resident and you are fine. She will be exempted, probably with no further issue.

If she is here illegally, she, and you for shielding her, are in violation of the sovereignty of the United States and I urge you to rectify the situation ASAP.   My understanding is that many jurisdictions have been cracking down on people trying to get out of jury duty so any request for exemption will draw attention.

  4. You can not serve on a jury if you are not a citizen.  You must be a registered voter to be summoned for jury duty.

  5. How did she get a summons if she's not registered to vote? If she is registered Why?

  6. The law automatically disqualifies non-citizens, convicted felons whose civil rights have not been restored, and people under 18 years of age from jury service.

Your mother will not be deported for stating she is not a citizen.

  7. do not believe people at all! Believe me. They sent me a letter saying i have jury duty, the thing is i never registered to vote or at least that i seen.
