Jury duty in New Jersey, how do you get out of it?

My aunt lives in NJ and just received a notice for duty. The first day they need her she has plans for a vacation that whole week. She has no issue with her duty, and would gladly do it any other time. She is retired and would enjoy something to do actually. This is just bad timing. What can she do, now if possible, to reschedule?

  1. If she hasn't already post poned here jury duty she can delay it. she just needs to follow the instructions on her notice.

  2. Go down and explain the situation to the person in charge of scheduling jury duty. They'll understand and reschedule. If they give her any beef she needs to go to the judge over that certain court. If he's worth anything he will understand. If all of this fails I'd move the h**l away from there.

  3. All she has to do is call and they will reschedule her.  There are usually instructions on the card that tell her who to contact.  At least there is in my state.  Have fun on the vacation.

  4. She needs to call the clerk of court and ask.  They may not be sympathetic, but if she loses money because she can't get refunds, they may let her out.

  5. Off the judge ?
