  1. If you just let them know that you are not available because you are residing out of state, you will be exempt. People are chosen for jury duty by a computer. I have gotten it three times in the last 12 years and most of the people I know, have never had it. It really is just the luck of the draw.

  2. Until 5 years ago, when I hit age 40, I was called for jury duty each year, every year.  Wound up serving on each jury they called me for.

Don't worry about your situation.  Simply call them during their hours and explain your situation.  You're overseas.  You're on a military base.  You are exempt.

  3. It's not that bad, don't worry.  Just send them a record of where you are, and they will give you an extension to serve at a later date.

  4. It should not be that big of a deal. Especially once you explain that you are over seas. They will likely just postpone your service for another time. Just keep trying to get a hold of them and they should be able to help you straighten it out.
