I have served jury duty for county in Northern Ca. I have been summoned for jury duty for federal in Northern ca. Do I have to serve jury duty again if I just served in Feb of this year? What is the difference between federal and county jury service?

  1. Contact the clerk of the court that is now calling you for jury duty and ask them.

  2. Sorry, but I don't want anyone serving on my jury that isn't smart enough to get out of it, or get hired by a company that would pay you to go.

The difference is that you get to serve your jury duty in a different building, or a different city.

You shouldn't have to serve again this year, as long as you have proof of service.

Unless, of course, you want to serve.

  3. It sounds to me like you were summoned for jury duty in State court, and have now been summoned for jury duty in Federal court, or vice versa.  These are two completely independent system, and service in one does not limit when you can be called in the other.
