Just Beware ready to strike at Plumpton through the Marlea Avian Control Handicap Hurdle after scoring second twice
Plumpton will become home for the Class 5 Marlea Avian Control Handicap Hurdle over two miles and two furlongs on Friday, 27th April. Participating in the race are eight four-year and older thoroughbreds who will invade the £1,916 purse race.
Just Beware, Makbul’s ten-year-old bay mare out of mare, Bewails, has raced twice at Plumpton out of the five outings during the new season.
Just Beware slipped into the season on 2nd January in the Next Fixture January 17th Handicap Hurdle at Folkestone over two miles, one furlong and 110 yards. She settled second to the 4/9 favourite of the race, Langley. She had to compromise
victory by the seven lengths that were under charge the winner. Taking up the third slot was Swiss Guard.
The second start of the season had her scoring second in the At The Races Virgin 534 Handicap Hurdle on 30th January at Plumpton over two miles. Riding away with the title was Leighton Aspell onboard Songsmith. The winner led Just Beware by eight
lengths who was ridden by Gemma Gracey-Davison.
Her next try at Plumpton was in the Follow Plumpton Racecourse On Facebook Mares’ Handicap Hurdle on 12th March over two miles and two furlongs. She yet again settled as the runner up after covering the eleven lengths’ gap behind the 6/4 favourite
winner, Flite.
Concluding the race third behind the winner was Belle De Fontenay.
Sixth outing of the season with the third attempt at Plumpton should prompt Just Beware to claim a race that she has not been able to ever since the season took off.
Another note worthy entry for the race is Overdante, Overbury’s ten-year-old bay mare out of mare, Mrs Wumpkins. She secured the second position in the Bet Totepool On All UK Racing Novices’ Handicap Hurdle at Plumpton over two miles and two furlongs on
9th April.
The race was won by Red Rock who led the field only by half a length while the 11/4 favourite of the race, Beau Fighter, ended sixth on the track of eight.
All the candidates for the race are fairly experienced at Plumpton even though not all have been able to celebrate victory there. The victory for Just Beware will not come easy.
