It depends on what you’re going to do with them.

When I start building a new website for myself the first thing I do is try and come up with 20,000 keywords. I’ll then start building a landing page for each of the keywords. Let’s say I have a website selling used car parts. Ranking that site for cars will get me lots and lots of visitors but very little sales.

I’ll get people looking for new cars, used cars, car information and so on and so on but very few people looking for used car parts.

Now if I build a landing page for 1968 VW bug right hand door, I might only get one visitor this month but he will be looking for a 1968 VW door. And I can rank for the 1968 VW door in a matter of days were the other will be a matter of years. Now let’s say I get one visitor per month for the 1968 VW door keyword, I then build a page for 1969 Ford Mustang door and I get 15 a month for that keyword.

If you use a list of keywords correctly they can be worth gold however having a list and not knowing what to do with it isn’t worth anything.
