Do you think that if a child experiences rejection, neglect, or abandonment by their opposite s*x parent, it affects their relationships with the opposite s*x in the long run?

  2. That makes sense.

    Like if a boy's mom is the type to come and go all the time, say "i love you" then leave, etc.  he may think for a while that all women are like that.

    Parents are our first models that shape how we see the world and other people in it. If you dad abused you growing up, you'd begin to see other men in a similar light -- either hate them entirely and stay away or be drawn to them to relive it all over again subconsciously and try to 'fix' it. It goes very deep psychologically..

    The parents ARE our only strong example growing up.

    Have you ever seen how many people are just like their parents? Girls grow up to be like mom, boys like dad -- or vice verse'? Its extremely common and is present in mostly every person on earth (regardless of cultural beliefs or their society).

    Its very sad sometimes when a child gets a parent that treats them negatively (someone who shouldn't have even had a child to begin with) and they grow up with intense problems because of it.
