Question:

Just a couple of questions on conures

So I'm hoping to get a conure next summer after I get more money from my summer job. Does anyone have any advice or tips on them? I'm just getting one, so is that ok? I think so, if you take them out a lot. A couple of years ago I had zebra finches in a cage. I should probably get a new one because that one is too small, right? It's just a 1 1/2 foot by 1 foot bottom and 2 1/2 feet high. A bigger one is better, right? Also, what do you feed your conure? I'm guessing fruits and veggies and maybe some seeds. I'm going to get more info on them later in the year, but just asking owners for some advice. Thanks!!!!

  1. I have a sunconure, first, make sure you have time and money and lots of sound proof walls...they are very noisy...second, a large cage is better but make sure the bars are not spaced more than 1/2  apart. third, they eat conure bird seed, you can give an occasional peanut (unsalted and roasted) lots of apples (no seeds-apple seeds are poisonous!!)corn on the cob, strawberries, oranges...and sand perches and toys, and fresh water every day, or sometimes two or three times a day...and make sure you have HOURS to "play" with your bird...

  2. There are a lot of different types of Conures some big and small, you didn't say what kind.  The biggest cage possible. Food Fruits, Veg, whole grains, pasta. I have a Nanaday Conure she eats Pellets and seeds, she is not much interested in anything else even though I have tried. She will eat some apple though. Just no Avacado, caffiene, alcohol, candy or salty stuff. What ever is really healthy for you is usually ok for your bird. Make sure you research what kind you are interested in.
