Question:

Just a little FAFSA question...?

I just received my award information for the college that I will be attending. I was awarded with the Pell Grant, State Grant, and work-study.

It looks like the Pell Grant and State Grant will cover all of my tuition plus books and other expenses but I was also awarded with money towards work-study. I wanted to know if I 'HAVE' to do the work-study even though the other grants covers all of my tuition.

Thanks :)

  1. Nope.  And if you're a freshman, take the time to get used to college before you have to start working.  Work study is a great way to meet people and get into new areas, but you're probably going to have some "re-adjusting" to do, so take it slow and steady and study...

  2. no, you don't have to do workstudy.

  3. If the money you were granted exceeds the amount needed to attend school money will be taken away from you because there is no reason for you to have that money. With that said depending on how much over it is they may take it out of a grant and force you to do work study to make it up or they may just tell you not to do work study. Keep in mind work study is only $600 per semester 1200 for the year which is so minimal anyway

  4. When your FAFSA results go to the schools that you are looking at, they  (the schools) should send you offers for financial aid. Being that you were awarded with several different types of aid, you should be able to have the choice of which you type you will accept. In other words, you should just be able to accept your pell grants and not have to worry about work study, unless you want to pick up the work study as well.

  5. no
