Just a little too much mario?

Question

i have played video games all the way back to super mario bros but something has been bothering me lately. it's mario games. i consider a mario game a platformer. but if mario is a platforming game, why am i seeing games like mario tennis, mario golf, mario super sluggers, mario kart. why the f+ck is nintendo ruining a trademark with all these c**p games. i enjoyed mario kart but there's only one thing that even relates to mario in that game and that is that he is a playable character, no different then any other character. why not call it luigi kart. nintendo should focus more on true super mario titles instead of just mario titles. i don't want to see super mario sluggers, i would like to see another super mario bros. what about super mario bros 4? why not go back to old school graphics instead of focusing on shovelware. who agrees with me?

I'd hardly call the Mario sports games "shovelware". It's obvious that Nintendo spends a lot of time on these games. I have a lot of fun with Mario Tennis, Soccer, Kart, etc. Besides, the Mario series seems similar to the Zelda series in that each console gets its own definitive Mario platformer.

Really, I'd rather play a Mario sports game than any other sports game. If Nintendo wants to make money off sports games, it makes sense that these games would include their most recognizable mascot.

it because mario is BIG way bigger than snake and master chief.

if you go around asking people if they know mario they will most likely say yes but Snake or master chief they will say no

mario is also Nintendo mascot pulse who doesn't like mario

almost everybody that playes video games grew up with mario!

endeed Mario games are appearing by the S#}+load and not all of them are good.

If I made a list of good mario games most of them would be older than me. the games that I like the most of the italian plumber are Donkey Kong, SMB 1 and 3, SMB rpg, SMWorld, Smario64, Mario Kart 64, Mario Tennis, Mario galaxy and mario strickers Recharged,

If think about it, the reason why they make so many games of mario might be because many years ago the whole mario boom exploded, creating tons of games Toys, cartoon series and even a live-action movie ( wich is not that good), but the games were good. Now nintendo is doing a lot of games like in the past, but mario is not as important as before.



other possibility would be because in the gamecube the best games weren't mario games, there were luigi's mansion, star fox assault, Super Smash Melee, and the metroid prime 1 and 2, in fact the only mario game I had fun with in the gamecube was marik party 5 because of the microphone.

Yes their is a little to much Mario game's in fact some games are bad as third party cough Mario Party 8 cough.But most are good like Super Mario Galaxy and Mario Kart Wii!!!But let's not forget that Mario is Nintendo mascot.But I think we should see less Mario and more Luigi!!

While I see how you mean and agree with your right to say so, I must disagree.

While I do not enjoy most Mario sports games, I can definitely see why Nintendo would make them.

Mario is the Icon of Nintendo and just about the entire video game universe. He is very popular and many people consider those game the best.

As I stated earlier, I really don't like many of these games. I do like just about all of the Mario karts, Mario Tennis 64, and I like the Mario party games up to number 4, but I was never into the baseball, golf, or soccer games.

To be honest, I really don't even like Mario. I mean I love the games but I prefer The Green Luge (Luigi.)

But it seems to me that you are against the idea of these games all together.

See, with me it's the opposite. I love the idea of characters getting together in a game. I like it in Mario Party, Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros.

That is why I like Nintendo more than I like other gaming companies, because Nintendo does those kind of games.

If you like hardcorer games, you should probably look around in Microsoft or Playstation.

Mario is Nintendo's main character and is like the leader of all the other characters.  It would sound weird if the game was called Yoshi Kart or Peach Super Sluggers.  

I like Mario games and I disagree with you.  It's just that most people automatically know the name Mario and more people would probably buy the game if it was Mario Kart and not Boo Kart or Toad Kart.  People would be like, "Toad Kart?  What's that?" and then walk away.  People recognize Mario.

I agree with you, I'm sick of all the sports-themed Mario games, the platforming Mario games that we all know are WAY better. The only reason people buy the sports-themed ones are because "Mario" is in the title.

Don't get me wrong, I like the platforming Mario games , but not Mario Sluggers, Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, Mario... oh whatever

And for the people who are gonna type "OMG YOU HATE MARIO, GO TO h**l!!!1!". I repeat, I LOVE the Mario games, but NOT the sports-themed ones! I'm sure most people would agree there

Oh, and I forgot to mention, dare I say, the Mario Party games...

Communist, Mario is famous, but so is Snake and Master Chief, it's not like Mario is the only well-known game character. I'm not saying EVERYONE knows Snake, but you have to admit, a lot of people do.

Mario rules, so does Snake

Plus, Snake is in Brawl now, so more people will probably know him.

EDIT: Ok, I have to admit, I don't know a single person who hasn't heard of Mario

i do i think that Nintendo is just taking there best selling game taking the main character and putting it into other story lines and by doing that it makes the game suck more i think it would be so funny if they took Mario and put him in the grand theft auto back round lol!

True, Nintendo is over using Mario wayy to much. But he is their trademark, their logo. Like how the eagle is for hollister. Thats most likely why they do this. But yes, calling everything "Mario somethen somethen" is getten quite old. Hope i helped!
