Just a question about once a egg is released?

hi, i know this may sound silly but i was wondering can anyone tell me once a egg is released in a womans body with ovulating, how long does it stay fertile and alive for?? any answers would be great. thanks

  2. After ovulation, the egg remains viable for about 12-24 hours, possibly as long as 48 hour, before it begins to disintegrate.

  3. If the egg isn't fertilized within about 24 hours, it disintegrates.

  4. You have 12-24 hours for fertilization to occur once the egg is released. However since sperm can live longer, approximately 2-3 days, you will increase your chances of getting pregnant if you BD a couple of days before ovulation and continue either every day or every other day until you believe you are done ovulating. Also I have heard several friends say it helps to remain lying down for 20 minutes or so with your pelvis proped up to increase chances. Baby Dust :)
