Question:

Just a quick fundal height question?

Is there a certain limit that is considered abnormal?

For example, I'm 37 weeks, but only measuring 35cm.

Is this ok?

Bubs' heart rate is fine and all, but my OB quite literally ran out of the room to see himself on TV, instead of hanging around to answer my fundal height question!

Note to self: Different OB next time!

  1. That's fine. The measurement isn't very accurate anyway. Fundal heights vary by 2-4 cm from the 'norm' without meaning that there is any problem with the baby at all. The important thing is that it's increasing steadily with each visit.

Not all doctors even take the measurement. My chart has a series of fundal height figures written on it - but my OB has never actually taken the measurement. I think he must just look at me and think that's about right!

  2. hey i had the same problem the baby could have just dropped which makes you measure smaller..

like they had me down as 34 weeks i measured 36cm and then at my visit at "36" weeks i measured 36 cm but when i measured myself i was 38cm so i dunno they told me the baby prolly had a growth spurit so i wouldnt stress to much love

  3. Oh yes I'm not happy with my OB right now either. But I'm not sure if there is a limit. I always measure 1 week smaller than I am. But I'm also a smaller person I weighed only 100lbs when i got preggo and am 5 '1. I have also only gained 17 pounds. But even though I measure smaller the doc says everything is fine and my baby is a normal size.
