Question:

Just a quick question on CLOMID

I am 23 yrs old and have recently had loads of test done privately at a fertility clinic and have been diangnosed with PCO (not PCOS) as I have a regular period and do not have any of the symptoms of the syndrome besides polycystic appearing ovaries as the dr said.

I have been pescibed CLOMID to take on day 2-6 of my cycle. I have been reading through various threads and have noticed people take it on different days. Why do we take it on different days of our cycles? Does taking it earier or later in the cycle have better success rates?

I have also heard that the younger you are the better the succes rate, is that true?

Any success stories from people who are early 20's, TTC, taking CLOMID on days 2-6 on 50mg with PCO would also be grateful.

Thanks and baby dust to you all x

  1. I have PCOS and just finished my second cycle of clomid with IUI.

I also thought that about how you take it because i also read that some people take it on day3, and to be honest i don't think that it makes a difference on whether its day 2 or 3.

I think its more on when that person has their period, so day3 will not make much difference.

The younger the woman is undergoing fertility treatment does make a difference on the success rate.  I am 26 and was told that i am still young, so you have nowt to worry about there!!

I have not got a success story to tell you yet, but hopefully one day i will!

CLOMID has quite good success rates so we both should be having our fingers crossed.

    xx

  2. Hello i do not have pcos but i do not ovulate i have just had my first month on 50mg clomid with no luck trying again next month and i take it 3 to 7 days don't think it makes a difference but good luck o n i was very moody so not looking forward this month o and i am 22

  3. the reason a dr may prescribe differentt days to start clomid is b/c the earlier you take it the more folicies youdevelopt, but when you take it from days 5-9 your chances are higher atconceivingg b/c you will most likely make one large goodfolliclee. i am only 22 and have been ttc for 3 years. i have pcos and have been on metformin for 3 years. has your dr given you that yet? i have heard more woman w/ pcos have better success rate w/ met and clomid combo. isadlyy have not. i am on my 3rd cycle of clomid. was on 50mg, 100mg and now 150mg and have not ovulated once. i amgettingg very discourage. i am going to ask to move on from clomid. but good luck to you.

  4. I'm 24 and have PCOS.  I will be taking the same amount of clomid in 16 days for the first time.  I don't know much about the timing of the clomid during my cycle though (like what days 2-6, 3-7, etc.) yet.  I have also been asking questions about clomid too.  From what people say it varies all over person to person.  Some had bad side effects, others none, some got pregnant right away, others it never worked for at all, and these were all different ages.  I hope it works for you!  I will have my fingers crossed for you!!  I hope we both get our BFP's really really soon!!!

  5. I was interested to read Jessica's response, so thanks for that!  I, too had noticed that women appear to be taking their clomid on  different days.  I took mine on days 1-6, and ovulated on 50mg.  I conceived straight away, but sadly miscarried at just 5 weeks.  We tried again and conceived again on the next cycle of clomid, and we now have a very happy, healthy 15 month old girl.

Stay positive, it does work for some of us, my little girl is proof of that, and I will always be thankful.

    Lots of babydust to you!!

  6. im not sure why dr.s tell different people to take it on different days.. i took mine on days 3-7. im 20 and i finished my third cycle last month. i've ovulated all 3 times. this month i had two decent sized follicles. hopefully one got fertilized.. im now just waiting for my period which should come around the 13th but of course im not hoping for it.. hehe... anyway... good luck in trying to concieve!!
