I've had my new 4 year old Australian Shepard for three days now. We picked her up from the vet the other day because she had to get fixed. A day later, she started doing this sneezing/cough thing. I also noticed when this started, she became really aggressive towards my other dog. She was really sweet to him before, and she doesn't act this way when other dogs from our neighborhood approach her. I also noticed, she only seems to get like this with him when they're in the house.

She has a vet appointment for tomorrow, to get checked for the sneezing/cough issue. Until then, I have to keep them separated.

Do you think she's being like this because she's not feeling well? Or do you think maybe she's getting territorial of the house?

  1. I think its normal behavior, My cats are like that so I have to keep them apart..I have three cats. Two get along but the other one hates them and my puppy just chills. she doesn't really care about it =] but yeah its normal..

  2. Talk to your vet about it but I think she may just feel bad and still be getting used to her home.  I got a dog when she was around five and I had her for a few days when she attacked my little dog.  I was mortified and almost found her a new home but I gave her another chance.  Now she is my precious angel and I hate to think that I almost missed out on that.  Get her better and give her a few weeks to get used to her surroundings.  She probably still doesn't understand that it is home.  Good Luck!!

This is a good article that explains dogs behavior well.

Are you holding your promise to protect her? (read the article before responding)

  4. It is very natural for animals in a pack environment to vie for the position of pack leader, she's showing aggression because she wants to be the pack alpha....once she wins or loses, the aggression should subside
