  1. Because they HAVE to!

  2. we are used to it.

  3. No wonder all your answers about South Africa you give are rubbish, you were not even living here.

  4. Its part of your life if you live in SA, only when you go to another country do you realize just how abnormal the situation is.

  5. It is so sad but it's reality  -  welcome back and i hope you will enjoy your stay just the same, was thinking you are very quiet

Add Mr D  -  answer his question ........if you can

  6. yeah ... its different.

its the 'WHY'  i get peeved when these ignorant people say:

"Oh,  its the same everywhere in the world"

       ...  not !!!

Remember, there are people here who'll act (as if) they're your mate/ pal ...  but are 'playing' you .. watch out for their 'directions' and places just anyone recommends.

If you 're  in  Durban ... GET OUT.

Go to Umhlanga,  Salt Rock .. and Ballito..

SOuth COast has great places to like Umkomaas and Park Rynie ... tons good diving spots, gr8  fishing and surfing -- just dont leave your valuables or car keys with anyone ,  and probably best NOT with the CAR GUARD..!

  7. r u not from s.africa??i wonder!!   my son visited 4times but he was cautioned   all times.he had to b extra careful ,wearin only ordinary clothes, without costly items,to b always  vigilant, careful in goin by taxis&while goin walkin after 6p.m .but he liked the clean beautiful country though he didnt want to establish business there.

  8. Welcome to the new and wonderful south africa

  9. Do you think that the distance you have attained through living outside SA has made you more aware of the "abnormal" situation in the country?

And, do you have the impression that all this "crime stress" has allowed many South Africans to lose touch with reality, and have become irrational in their outlook on life, and in their attitude towards other humans ?

Please enjoy your stay, enjoy the rain and the cooler temperatures, be alert and take care.

  10. Ja Darth, ek weet wat jy bedoel!!! It's mad. When we are in SA we get hardened off to it and don't notice it any more. When you go away and come back and see the high security walls, burglar bars, razor wire, armed response, pack of dobermanns and feel the general level of tension as soon as you step off the plane at Jan Smuts (I refuse to call it Oliver Tambo) or Cape Town airport then you realise ou boet, then you realise.

  11. The problem is, it is a way of living we have become used too the last 14 years ! We do not even notice it anymore and that is the sadest part !

  12. Its a way of life for South Africans.Even though I now live in a different country I still find myself clutching my purse and cellphone for dear life, locking the car doors as soon as I get into the car, double checking that the house is locked up etc etc

  13. Now do you understand what we're talking about, Darth?

Hope you have an enjoyable stay, apart from the security and crime issue  :)

  14. We have no choice.
